With the Burkhart Engineering repair kit, your SMG 2 hydraulic unit (BMW part number: 21 53 2 229 715 / 21532229715) will be ready for summer again!
Are the following error messages, among others, stored in the error log?
• 53 (0x35) Pressure band undershot HE
• 55 (0x37) Hydraulic unit switching frequency
• 56 (0x38) Duty cycle hydraulic unit
• 57 (0x39) Hydraulic unit misuse
In most cases, the cause is a worn-out electric motor that drives the hydraulic pump in the hydraulic unit. In addition, gap losses in the hydraulic system increase dramatically at high temperatures. When many hydraulic consumers are active (clutch slave cylinder and transmission actuator), the hydraulic unit can no longer keep up with the pressure buildup. We have developed our Burkhart Engineering High Performance Hydraulic Oil for this purpose. The required system pressure is built up up to 25% faster than with standard Pentosin CHF 11s.
The pump drive may be responsible for the following fault pattern:
• Transmission warning light comes on
• Engine light comes on
• Gears are removed
• Gears can no longer be engaged
The worn-out original motor can be replaced with our repair motor using a plug-and-play approach. The replacement motor is equipped with the required pins and seals and can be directly plugged into the original BMW wiring harness. It's a replacement part with OEM quality. It's the ideal alternative to replace the hydraulic unit.

The repair kit can only achieve the desired improvement in an otherwise fully functional unit. If, for example, the piston accumulator is defective or no longer has the required preload pressure, it must also be replaced. You can find instructions for checking the preload pressure here.
*** INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ***
Please do not operate the motor outside the hydraulic unit! Furthermore, the motor should not be removed after installation. Due to the tight fit of the motor, it may be damaged during re-removal. If you have any questions about the product, we are happy to help.
