The clutch pin is made of brass instead of plastic to minimize wear.
We chose brass as the material for the coupling bolts because it offers two decisive advantages over stainless steel.
On the one hand, the brass alloy in question is rich in zinc, which is why this alloy is often used as a bearing material with good emergency running properties.
The second advantage over stainless steel or steel is the wear on the release lever. We sensibly selected the material pairing so that the less expensive ball stud wears, while the more expensive release lever remains wear-free. Using a clutch stud made of steel or stainless steel reverses the intended wear direction. As a result, the stud remains intact, but the release lever wears. For this reason, we believe manufacturing it from brass makes sense, even if the material is somewhat more expensive.
When installing the clutch pins, please use a new retaining spring and grease the head of the pin.
