At first glance, this cooler looks very similar to the E36 M3 cooler (#3054) from CSF. While the overall shape is very similar, there are several key features that make the new S54 swap cooler special. Since the S54 requires a much more robust oil cooling system than the E36's S50/S52, CSF has made special provisions for mounting two different oil coolers in race applications. Please note that this cooler can also be used for S50 and S52 swaps. For this purpose, the cooler has been slightly reduced in height, allowing the CSF race coolers to be mounted in a versatile position. The cooler includes a specially designed oil cooler bracket that accommodates both oil coolers (CSF #8032 & #8240). In addition, the included radiator cover plate allows for optimized fan placement and conceals the coolant overflow line for an OEM+ look.
CSF also supplies brackets for an electric fan setup. These brackets are designed for a 16-inch SPAL fan (not included). While it's possible to keep the clutch fan, it's much more efficient to upgrade to an electric fan.
The 2-row, 42 mm aluminum core offers maximum coolant capacity and optimal heat dissipation. CSF's exclusive B-Tube technology increases heat transfer by approximately 15% compared to conventional oval welded tubes. Furthermore, the super-efficient, multi-drilled fins maximize airflow through the core, ensuring the best possible performance. All mounting brackets are CNC-machined for a precise fit. The radiator inlet and outlet connections feature E36/OEM-style slip-on fittings.
