The S55 twin-turbo engine that powers the BMW M2C/M3/M4 F8X has a horizontally mounted engine oil cooler located beneath the central radiator module. The standard oil cooler has a tube-and-fin core , which is relatively fragile and can be damaged by road debris. As a result, even small stone chips or foreign objects can damage the original oil cooler and lead to a sudden oil leak—which can be fatal for the engine.
The do88 Performance oil cooler offers a significantly more robust design , improving both cooling performance and reliability.
do88 conducted a detailed 3D scan of the mounting area and, based on this, designed a new bar-and-plate cooler which, compared to the standard cooler:

has a 20% larger cooling surface (front area: 1185 cm² vs. 984 cm² )

offers a 63% larger core volume ( 4503 cm³ vs. 2755 cm³ )
This results in improved reliability and greater cooling performance compared to the original oil cooler.
