The S55 twin-turbo engine that powers the BMW M2C/M3/M4 F8X uses plastic intercooler pipes , which can be a weak point – especially in tuned vehicles. OE plastic pipes frequently crack or split at the turbo couplings, resulting in boost pressure loss .
With these do88 performance intercooler pipes, do88 aims to offer a reliable solution while simultaneously improving airflow .
For the development, a detailed 3D scan of the engine compartment was carried out to precisely determine the available space. Based on this, new 2.25″ (57 mm) charge air cooler pipes with gentle bends were designed.
The design takes into account the limited space between the engine cover and valve cover. Many aftermarket pipes prevent the engine cover from closing properly; do88 solves this problem and includes longer OE-style locking pins for the cover.
No methanol injector connections were incorporated into the design, as do88 recommends placing them after the charge air cooler – they make more functional sense there.
The pipes are made entirely of aluminum (mandrel-bent) with CNC-machined turbocharger flanges . More durable silicone hoses are also supplied to connect the pipes to the intercooler inlet flanges. Matte black hose clamps are included for a discreet, clean look.
