BMW E28 – The second generation of the classic 5 Series

The BMW E28 was produced from 1981 to 1988 and is considered the second generation of the 5 Series. With its angular design, which now enjoys iconic status, the E28 set new standards in the upper mid-size class. It was the first 5 Series model to be available with a diesel engine and featured many technical innovations such as ABS, an on-board computer, and improved safety systems.

The engine ranged from the 518i to the sporty M535i and the legendary M5 E28 , which with its 286 hp inline six-cylinder engine from the M1 was considered the fastest production sedan of its time.

The E28 combines classic BMW virtues – driving pleasure, reliability, and timeless design – and is now a sought-after classic car.
